ALBANY, Ga. - Police are investigating the shooting death of a 13-year-old Albany girl by her 15-year-old brother at their family's home.

Dougherty County Coroner Emma Quimbley says Lejuawlard Lunsford died Tuesday night, likely from a gunshot wound to the neck. Quimbley said the teen was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Albany Herald reports that authorities say the girl's brother, Thomas Lunsford, accidentally shot his sister with a rifle that was in the house.

Police are not releasing details of the shooting, referring all calls to the district attoey's office. Dougherty County District Attoey Gregory W. Edwards has not retued calls for comment from The Associated Press.
