Outrage over principal Karen Karl parking at emergency exit
If a picture is worth a thousand words many parents are voicing conces on social media about these two.
They show a jeep, belonging to the principal at FreeHome Elementary, parked at the double door fire emergency exit. It happened Monday when metro Atlanta was hit by stormy weather.
Aimee Miller, a parent with a child here, sent the photos to the media.
"She jeopardized the safety of our students to protect her vehicle which to me is not the type of principal I want running the school," said Miller.
Cherokee Counties Fire and Emergency Services investigated the principal parking incident. No citation was issued as the department is working with the district on its investigation.
"It's a good wake up call for everyone to understand why we ask people to stay clear of fire lanes because there is that possibility something serious could happen," said Tim Cavendar, spokesman for the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
A representative said, "The issue has been addressed with the principal and we can assure parents it will not occur again."
Not good enough says Aimee Miller.
"I think she needs to be fired, I don't trust her with my children," said Miller.
But other parents say Karen Karl is a great hands on principal who made a mistake.
"I don't think she should lose her job for that. I understand the parking is wrong but the truth remains our kids are getting a great education at Freehome," said Stella Nwabuko who has two children at the school.
