A Sandy Springs man has been charged with assaulting a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon after a fight at the Occupy DC encampment in Washington.

Court documents say James D. Ruffin kicked a U.S. Park Police officer in the groin, putting the officer in so much pain that he vomited.

The documents note that the fight began Thursday afteoon after Park Police officers responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman inside a tent at McPherson Square.

Authorities said Ruffin refused to present identification, then fought with officers as they tried to place him inside a police cruiser. At one point, officers used a stun gun to subdue Ruffin.

He was due in court Friday. It was not immediately clear if Ruffin had a lawyer.
