New Arrests Made In Second Gambling Raid
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Clayton County sheriff investigators said they raided two gambling sites on Tuesday afteoon, arresting three people and confiscating three guns and more than $22,000.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne watched as deputies stormed The Rack, a pool hall, and Liquid Lounge – in the second illegal gambling bust in two weeks.
"This is a continuation of an ongoing gambling investigation," said investigator Josh Waites, who told Winne one of the machines at Liquid Lounge was illegal.
”Anything that represents playing cards, poker, blackjack or keno, said Waites.
Investigators told Winne they hoped to look at surveillance cameras inside the business to capture evidence of cash payouts.
Jason McCoid, the owner of Liquid Lounge, was arrested but denied allegations of illegal gambling when questioned by Winne.
Investigators said Amar Shetch faced gambling and gun charges in part for the two guns found in a backpack with thousands of dollars in cash in a truck outside the lounge.
"The money's mine, Shetch told Winne. ”And the guns? asked Winne. ”That’s mine, all mine, responded Shetch. ”To protect the money? questioned Winne. ”Yeah, protect myself, said Shetch. ”Everything legal? Winne asked. ”Yes it is," Shetch answered.
Waites told Winne that Shetch works for the company distributing illegal gambling machines.
Waites said information about the Liquid Lounge grew out of a series of raids last week targeting one organization, but Waites said the machines confiscated on Tuesday are tied to another organization.
Investigators told Winne they were not sure who owned the pool hall.
