Cobb County police are investigating an officer-involved shooting.

It happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Riverside House Apartment complex off of Shadowood Parkway.

Investigators said they initially responded to a 911 call and also a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they reported finding a man naked and holding a weapon.

That's when an officer shot the man saying there was a perceived threat, according to police officials.

"He was shot just outside the foyer of the apartment. I can tell you he was not inside the apartment at the time," Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Residents were staded outside of their homes for several hours while homicide and inteal affairs investigators combed the scene.

Police are expected to provide more information about the shooting, including the man's name, on Wednesday.
