A grieving mother appealed for help in solving her son's murder. Charles Boyer was walking with his girlfriend in Virginia-Highland Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, when masked gunmen approached and shot him several times during a robbery attempt.

ATLANTA - A grieving mother appealed for help in solving her son's murder. Charles Boyer was walking with his girlfriend in Virginia-Highland Monday night, when masked gunmen approached and shot him several times during a robbery attempt.

The robbery happened just after 9:30 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Virginia Highland Apartments.

Police say the couple was approached by at least one masked gunman.

Investigators said Boyer's girlfriend, Lisa McGraw, fled back into the building while struggled with the robber.

Police said that's when the gunman opened fire. Boyer died at the scene.

The robber escaped with the McGraw's purse and cell phone.

Police are searching for at least two or three people but don't have a good description of the suspects.
