The mother of a young girl is behind bars after the 5-year-old died Tuesday moing.
The Monroe County 911 Center a call of an unresponsive child at 374 Brookwood Drive at 8:51 a.m. When authorities arrived, they found Heaven Woods not breathing. She was transported to the Monroe County Hospital’s Emergency Room and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Investigators from the Forsyth Police Department, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and GBI immediately started investigating the cause of the child’s death.
The child's death has been ruled a homicide. The GBI Medical Crime Lab said the little girl died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
The child’s mother, 33-year-old Amanda Hendrickson, of Rome, was arrested and charged with felony cruelty to children in the first degree. Authorities also arrested Roderick Buckner, 34, of Forsyth, and charged him with felony cruelty to children in the first degree.

Authorities said the Division of Family and Children Services in Floyd County has investigated Hendrickson before.
Additional charges are expected.
Both are being held in the Monroe County Justice Center.
The GBI said the mother and child recently moved to Monroe County. They were living with Buckner at the time of the arrest.
