The father of a woman who died after a fall from 10th-story Atlanta hotel room has filed a lawsuit against the hotel and its corporate owner.
 
Maurice Threatt on Friday filed a lawsuit in Fulton County State Court seeking damages from W Hotel Management and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Inc. Starwood did not immediately retu a call seeking comment Monday.

Witnesses told police 30-year-old LaShawna Threatt and a second woman were "play wrestling" in a room at the W Atlanta-Midtown hotel early on May 28 when they crashed into a window and fell through it.

The lawsuit claims negligence on the part of the hotel and seeks unspecified damages.

Threatt's lawyer, James Sadd, did not immediately retu an after-hours call seeking details Monday.

LaShawna Threatt, 30, was an aspiring model celebrating her 30th birthday when the accident occured. The other woman, identified by friends as Ciara Williams, 25, has been in critical but stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Both women struck an exterior ledge at about the fifth floor. Threatt died at the scene.
