Two arrested in DeKalb carjacking, 77-year-old shot in head
Man steals AT&T van, leads police on chase in DeKalb County

Police said two men shot a 77-year-old man and injured another man driving an AT&T van following a carjacking in Lithonia.

According to reports, the duo attempted to carjack the 77-year-old man on Glencroft Place.

The man was in his car with his grandson, 9, when he saw the men following him very closely. The grandfather got suspicious that the men were up to no good, so he rammed their car.

The grandfather and two men then exchanged gunfire, according to police. The grandfather was grazed in the head and taken to the hospital.

Police said the 77-year-old's injuries are non-life-threatening. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The two suspects then fled Glencroft Place, and carjacked the driver of an AT&T van a short distance away. That driver was injured in the leg.

Investigators followed the stolen van around Memorial Avenue and Second Avenue, outside of East Atlanta, thanks to a tracking system.

One of the suspects fled from the van near Creekview Drive and Sandy Woods Lane.

The remaining suspect continued on northbound on I-285 where officers boxed the van in before Chamblee Tucker Road.

The suspect was pulled from the van and arrested.

All lanes of traffic were shut down for a short time during the suspect's arrest.

Police also arrested the suspect who fled from the van along Creekview Drive.
