Christopher Kenney: Man shot, killed after ramming Gwinnett police cars
A man who was shot and killed when he tried to flee Gwinnett County officers had run from police just days earlier.
Ten officers were sent to Old Tucker Road in Stone Mountain on Monday moing to serve a warrant on 24-year-old Christopher Kenney. Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh that Kenney had reportedly threatened someone with a gun a few days ago and they feared he could be armed.
Officers said they found Kenney sitting in a green pickup truck in the driveway of his grandmother's home. Officers said they surrounded the vehicle, placed spike strips behind the truck and tried to arrest Kenney when he attempted to escape.

"He put the truck in gear almost immediately and started hitting the officers' cars in effort to get out," Smith said.
Smith said officers smashed the glass and used a stun gun on Kenney but were forced to shoot when he did not surrender.
"He was continuously ramming the vehicles. There was immediate potential for one of the officers to be run over," Smith said.
No officers were seriously hurt during the confrontation. Smith said Kenney has a lengthy criminal history that includes vehicle theft and burglary. Kavanaugh found court documents showing warrants dating back to 2007, including a 2008 warrant that accused Kenney of receiving a stolen pickup truck and carrying a handgun as a convicted felon. Smith said the truck Kenney smashed into police cruisers on Monday was also stolen.
Kenney's family members declined Kavanaugh's interview request.
