Man Kidnapped, Shot in Leg Overnight

Police were called out to Wallace Avenue in south Fulton County early Saturday moing after a neighbor heard screams and found a wounded man in the back of an SUV.

"He was loud, yelling, 'Help me! Help me! I've been shot!'" said neighbor Maddrick Long.

Long said he had just pulled into the driveway of his house after he realized that injured man needed help. Another member of his family called 911.

"I noticed there was somebody slumped over in the backseat of an SUV and I was conceed. But when I cut off my car, I heard someone screaming. 'Help me! Help me! I've been shot!' That's when I became more conceed," said Long.

Fulton County police investigators said the victim was working late at an auto repair shop on Sylvan Road and had family members with him when a group of masked men came inside.

According to police, the man, his girlfriend and their child were taken hostage by the men and forced into separate cars and blindfolded. The victim's girlfriend and child were dropped off at another location unharmed. However, the man was shot in the leg before the kidnappers got away.

Neighboring business owners said authorities wanted to look at surveillance video from the kidnapping scene.

As the shooting victim recovers, Long is happy he pulled into his driveway when he did and that he could help.

"It's so random. That's a quiet street. It's isolated. There's not a lot of traffic going back and forth," he said.
