Leader of cheer program Marjorie Lawrence charged with stealing from squad
Marjorie Lawrence has been charged with theft by conversion after allegedly stealing $2,100 from the Junior War Eagle Cheer program.

Hall County deputies arrested the leader of a junior cheerleading program accused of stealing from her team's bank account.

Marjorie Lawrence of Gainesville is facing charges of felony theft. She is suspected of stealing about $2,100 from the Junior War Eagles Cheerleading Program in Hall County.

Investigators said Lawrence used the stolen money to pay utility bills and buy personal items.

Hall county deputies said she transferred the funds into her personal account from July 2014 to August 2015.

A month later, another cheerleading coach discovered the team's money had vanished.

Deputies arrested Lawrence last Friday. Channel 2’s Rikki Klaus stopped by her Gainesville home Thursday night to get her side of the story.

She peeked out from her garage door and told Klaus and her photographer, ”You need to leave."

The 36-year-old mother texted Klaus after and directed her to her attoey.

Klaus still has not heard back from Lawrence’s attoey.

Most of the cheerleaders are in elementary school. The program is not affiliated with a school system.

But Lawrence was a substitute teacher. The district told Klaus it took Lawrence off the list after this ordeal.

Lawrence faces charges of felony theft by conversion.
