Lawrenceville woman Betsy Wilson arrested after stealing from patients for six years

A Lawrenceville woman has been placed behind bars after stealing from patients at Gwinnett Medical Center for six years.

According to arrest warrants, 53 -year- old Betsy Wilson has been accused of stealing jewelry, IDs, cash and other personal belongings of patients from a holding area in the hospital. Three victims are listed in the warrant, but investigators believe that there are more.

Doris Pratt, whose 59- year- old son is listed as one of the victims in the warrant, said ”Anybody takes from the sick that doesn’t make any sense, Pratt said that her son had suffered a stroke while visiting friends in metro Atlanta last year. She also said that because he has not had a clear mind since the stroke, he was unable to tell her about the missing belongings.

Police said Wilson worked in the security department and was assigned to investigate thefts and lost property, and that the hospital is cooperating with detectives as the investigation moves forward.
