Last polls show Georgia Republicans ahead in U.S. Senate, governor races

In the two polls released on Monday, Republican Georgia Goveor Nathan Deal leads his opponent state Sen. Jason Carter (D) outside of the margin of error, while Republican David Perdue has a slight lead over Democrat Michelle Nunn.

The Landmark Communications poll, conducted Sunday Nov. 2nd, for Georgia seat in U.S. Senate:

Republican David Perdue – 49.8%

Democrat Michelle Nunn – 45.6%

Libertarian Amanda Swafford – 2.4%

Undecided – 2.2%

The Landmark Communications poll for Georgia goveor:

Republican Nathan Deal – 50.8%

Democrat Jason Carter – 44.5%

Libertarian Andrew Hunt – 2.5%

Undecided – 2.2%

The polls included 1500 likely Georgia voters and have a +/- 2.5 percent margin of error.

The Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey, conducted Nov. 1-3, for U.S. Senate:

Republican David Perdue – 46%

Democrat Michelle Nunn – 45%

Libertarian Amanda Swafford – 5%

Undecided – 5%

The PPP survey for Georgia goveor:

Republican Nathan Deal – 47%

Democrat Jason Carter – 43%

Libertarian Andrew Hunt – 4%

Undecided – 6%

The PPP poll included 975 likely Georgia voters and has a +/- 3.1 percent margin of error.

PPP also polled both races in case of a runoff, without the Libertarian candidates. In the goveor’s race Deal would get 49 percent of the vote to Carter’s 45 percent. In the Senate race, it would be a tie with both candidates at 48 percent.

The winner in the goveor’s race is most likely going to be the incumbent Republican. It will be interesting to see if Deal manages to get more than 50 percent, otherwise the race will be concluded in the Dec. 2nd runoff. But out of the last 14 surveys, Carter was leading in only one of them two weeks ago. According to Real Clear Politics, Deal is leading on average by 4.7 percent.

The Senate race is clearly too close to call, but the Republican has moved a little bit ahead in the last few days. Real Clear Politics shows Perdue with an average of 2.7 percent in front of Nunn, who was last leading in polls in mid-October.
