KSU student Tyler Davis dies on campus
A Kennesaw State University student died last week after a 911 call was placed from outside a campus dining hall
Tyler Davis, of Marietta, died Thursday, John Bankhead, spokesman for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, told the AJC. The GBI conducted an autopsy Friday on Davis, but the results have not yet been released, Bankhead said. A test is being conducted to determine if Davis died from an allergic reaction.
The GBI is investigating the death because it occurred on state property, a spokeswoman for the Cobb County Medical Examiner told the AJC.
Davis died of an allergic reaction, according to a note posted on the Sprayberry High School soccer website. Davis, a 2009 graduate of Sprayberry High School, attended KSU part-time, according to his Facebook page. He played soccer in high school and planned to study health and exercise science.
A 911 call was placed from 1000 Chastain Road shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, Lt. Dan Dupree with the Cobb fire department told the AJC. Davis was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The university has not yet responded to a request for information regarding the incident.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta.
