Jonesboro High School students stuck in NYC head home on charter bus
A group of metro Atlanta students stranded in New York City during Superstorm Sandy are on their way home.
A group of students from Jonesboro High School traveled to New York for the Mock Trial World Championship over the weekend. They placed fourth, but sticking around until the end of the competition caused them to miss the final flights back to Atlanta before the storm hit.
The group spent the week holed up in Brooklyn before getting on a charter bus on Wednesday to head home.
”Not too excited, rather fly in an airplane, but at least we’ll have quality time with the team, one student said via cellphone video sent to Channel 2.
”I’m excited to see my parents, but I’m going to miss New York and hanging with my friends, student Callie Christian said.
The group from Jonesboro is sharing the bus with students from Atlanta Inteational School who were in New York for the same competition.
The group is expected back in Clayton County by 8 a.m.
