Inmate Amy Hightower Re-Arrested After Escaping Hospital

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A woman who escaped custody in Clayton County was back behind bars Tuesday moing.

Sheriff’s Office officials said Amy Hightower complained of being sick to deputies while on her way to jail.

Deputies said they took Hightower to Southe Regional Medical Center, where she escaped.

Members of the Clayton County fugitive squad, with the assistance of Atlanta police, found Hightower at an apartment in Atlanta – the same one where she was arrested a week ago, police said.

Exactly how Hightower escaped is still under investigation.
