Home Invasion Investigation In Jonesboro Uncovers Credit Card Scheme
Couple told police they were the victims of a home invasion, but now they’re the ones under arrest. Clayton County authorities say while they were investigating the home invasion and shooting, they uncovered an elaborate credit card scheme which was allegedly being run out of the Jonesboro house.
Officers were called to the home on Betony Wood Trail early Wednesday moing, and when they arrived they were told two men had burst through the door of the house. Police say when the two suspects got inside the house, one of them struggled over a gun with the renter who lived there. As a result, the renter was shot in the hand and the suspect was shot in the head. The second suspect left the scene and remains on the loose.

According to authorities, the man who was shot in the struggle rented the house with a woman. Investigators now believe the two suspects involved in the home invasion may have known the two people who rented the home, and may have known about an alleged scheme being run out of the house.
Police say it appears that the people who were living in the home were involved in an elaborate credit card scheme. Inside the home, authorities found several credit card processing work stations, safes, expensive jewelry, several luxury cars and about $200,000 in cash.

Authorities say because of the evidence collected at the scene, the Secret Service and the Department of Revenue were notified and they are now assisting in the investigation. The home, which is more than 10,000 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 9 baths, is for sale.
Investigators told FOX 5 they immediately became suspicious after the home invasion was reported.
Both the 18-year-old suspect and the male renter are being treated at an area hospital, and warrants are pending for their arrests. The second intruder is still at large.
Paul Kelly told FOX 5 that his wife and her ex-husband own the home where the shooting happened. He said they have been trying to sell it, renting it for $4,000 in the meantime. Kelly said the incident is disturbing, and they hope the suspect who is still on the run can be caught quickly.
Authorities say they received a lot of help in the investigation from other residents in the neighborhood.
