Gwinnett SWAT arrests 2 rappers Jamy Long and Harrison Kim in a gang-related shooting
The Gwinnett County Police SWAT team coordinated raids on two homes Thursday and arrested two men who they said were involved in a gang-related shooting.
The Fourth of July shooting happened after an argument in the parking lot of a gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, according to authorities.
Police said the suspects are part of a group they are actively watching – a group that is half rap group and half gang.
Officers told Channel 2’s Jeff Dore the members are musically active and have rap videos on YouTube that feature a variety of weapons.
"It appears that they have access to significant weapons. Rifles, automatic rifles, AK-47s, AR-15s, in addition to a variety of handguns. These are things that show up in the videos," said Gwinnett County Corporal Jake Smith.
Smith said two rappers in the video, Harrison Kim and Jamy Long, were the shooter and the driver.
Thursday moing, police arrested Kim at his mother’s home and Long at an apartment complex just a mile from the shooting scene.
Kim’s mother told Dore she doesn’t believe the allegations against her son.
"No, I don't think he's in a gang. I don’t think my son is in a gang," Sopheth Kheav said
A clerk at the gas station told Dore they’ve had trouble before with gangs hanging out on the property and bothering customers.
