Georgia State student Malik Jordan killed in crash on I-75

MONROE COUNTY, GA - The Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say a Georgia State University student is dead after he was killed in a crash on the northbound lanes of I-75 in Monroe County early Saturday morning.

According to the incident report, Malik Jordan, 20, was driving a Lincoln Navigator around 7:15 a.m. on I-75N near mile marker 188 when he lost control of the vehicle after hitting a patch of ice, skidded off the roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash and witnesses said the car was going more than 80 mph. This is the first fatal wreck in Monroe County this year.
