Georgia Man Kenneth Moreno Guzman Charged in Assault of 11-Year-Old; ICE Lodges Detainer
STATESBORO, Ga. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer on a Georgia man accused of breaking into a home, raping an 11-year-old girl and threatening her younger sister with a knife, authorities said.
Kenneth Moreno Guzman, 26, of Bulloch County was arrested earlier this week in connection with the Jan. 12 incident, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators allege he forced his way through the back door of a mobile home and assaulted the older child while holding the 10-year-old at knifepoint in the same room.
ICE officials say Guzman first entered the U.S. illegally in 2016 and was removed at that time. It is unclear when he returned to the country. Authorities placed a detainer with ICE following his arrest.
Guzman faces multiple charges, including rape, statutory rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, cruelty to children, home invasion, false imprisonment, burglary and aggravated assault with a knife, officials said.
In March 2023, he was previously arrested in Statesboro on charges of driving without a license and driving without registration.
Sheriff’s officials declined to comment further on Guzman’s immigration status beyond the ICE detainer.
