GBI Raids Internet Cafes in Gambling Crackdown

ATLANTA - Investigators have seized flash drives and computers from inteet cafes in Blairsville, Helen and Villa Rica as part of a crackdown on illegal gambling parlors.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation raided an inteet cafDe in Villa Rica Friday after a one-month undercover investigation. They seized flash drives from each of the 100 computers as well as the computer server they use to connect to the Inteet.

The bust followed searches of inteet cafes in Blairsville and Helen on Thursday. At each of those locations 30 computers were seized, along with other evidence.

GBI says the undercover investigations revealed that the businesses violate the laws goveing sweepstakes and gambling.

No immediate arrests were made. Results of the investigations and search warrants will be provided to the appropriate district attoeys.
