HALL COUNTY, GA - Officials with the Hall County Animal Control say a Gainesville man is facing charges for allegedly tying a dog to train tracks .

Gerardo Damian Rosas was arrested December 1 and charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty.

Authorities responded to an area off White Sulphur Road in November after receiving a call about a dog on the tracks.

"There was evidence that the dog had been purposefully tied to the tracks, which ultimately led to his death," said Mike Ledford, Director of Hall County Animal Services. "This was an egregious act of cruelty against a defenseless animal, and our department works tirelessly to hold those responsible for such acts accountable."
