Ga. woman Kimberly Martin pleads guilty to mortgage fraud
ATLANTA -- A Georgia woman has pleaded guilty to one count of residential mortgage fraud and one count of theft by deception.
Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Timothy Hamil sentenced Kimberly Martin last week to seven years in prison and 13 years of probation on the bank fraud charges. She's also been ordered to pay more than $180,000 in restitution.
Prosecutors say she received $166,000 in February 2006 after refinancing a home she owned in Alpharetta and that she failed to disclose that a first mortgage on the property already existed with another lender in the amount of about $271,000.
