Fury as female politician Debbie Riddle says she WON'T support breastfeeding bill because 'women need to be modest'
A Texas lawmaker last night caused fury after she publicly stood against a breastfeeding bill in the state, posting on Facebook that 'women need to be modest.'
State Representative Debbie Riddle wrote on her Facebook account that while she does support the act of breastfeeding, she does not feel that it something that is appropriate for public consumption.
'It is important for women to be modest while feeding their baby – and most women are modest and respectful. But, a bill that would allow for lawsuits if one ‘interfered’ with a woman breast feeding is really going a bit too far,' she said according to The Texas Tribune.
'If a business owner objects to a woman who is not being modest then be fearful of a lawsuit is govement out of control.
'Most of our laws and bills being considered for law would not be necessary if people would simply be considerate and thoughtful of others.'
The post has since been removed, but not before it prompted a massive outcry from breastfeeding supporters.
Many of the more then 1,000 comments that came as a result of her post said that women felt it was unfair to force babies to feed under hot and stuffy blankets in order to comfort those who feel awkward around the new mothers.
This is not the first time Riddle has faced a firestorm for her Facebook postings.

Inappropriate? Riddle posted a note on Facebook where she said that women should be 'modest' while feeding their newbos, effectively encouraging them to cover themselves with a blanket during feedings

'If you can’t do that then go where people are sensative (sic) enough for you – I guess that would be Afghanistan – where they still live like they are in the Stone Age.'
