Football Fan Opens Fire in Gwinnett County Restaurant Parking Lot
A man was sent to the hospital in critical condition after witnesses said an over-zealous football fan confronted the man and his two friends outside a Gwinnett County restaurant.
A spokesperson for the Gwinnett Police Department said the man was shot in the parking lot of the Applebee’s on Pleasant Hill Road around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses told FOX 5 that the man shot four to five shots almost point blank at two other men and a woman who just left the restaurant before the end of the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers NFC Divisional Round playoff game.
One of the men told FOX 5 that gunman seemed upset that the 49ers were leading in the game. He said his friend was shot in the abdomen and a bullet grazed past him, nearly hitting him in the head. Corey Adams showed FOX 5's George Franco the whole in hole in his cap which was to by the bullet.
Police said the shooting victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition. Police have not yet confirmed an arrest in the shooting.
