The Newton County Citizen reports Sigman released a statement saying his supporters convinced him to stay in the race.

The move comes days after police released undercover video they say shows Sigman paying for signs stolen from his competitor. Sigmam now says the investigation is politically motivated and spearheaded by the Covington police chief.

Police deny those allegations and have tued to the case over to the Newton County District Attoey.
