U.S. Department of Health and Human Services officials said in a statement Wednesday that 398,781 Georgians had enrolled for coverage as of Jan. 9.

Open enrollment began Nov. 15 and ends on Feb. 15. Burwell says those who don't enroll by then may have to wait until next year to select a plan. The deadline is Thursday for consumers looking for coverage to begin on Feb. 1.

Health and Human Services officials say nearly 6.8 million people had selected a plan or were automatically re-enrolled since open enrollment began.
