Ex-DeKalb Cop Javier Garces Must Register As A Sex Offender
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A former DeKalb County police officer accused of forcing two women to perform oral sex in lieu of arrests must now register as a sex offender.
Javier Garces pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of sodomy and one count of violating the oath of office.
A spokesman for the DeKalb County district attoey’s office said Garces was on duty at the time of the incidents in January and February of 2009.
Judge Clarence Seeliger sentenced Garces to three years in jail.
”Garces’ actions were inexcusable and unacceptable for a swo officer charged with keeping peace and justice. Instead of upholding his oath of office, he preyed on the very people he was tasked to protect, said District Attoey Robert James.
