Doraville officer Kasey Lindsey charged with DUI after accident
DORAVILLE, Ga. — A Doraville police officer has been suspended with pay after his arrest on charges of driving under the influence and causing a crash.
Investigators said the incident happened along Memorial Drive near Rockbridge Road around 7:45 a.m. Saturday.
Officer Kasey Lindsey at first told DeKalb police he fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended the other car.
According to the police report, when officers asked Lindsey twice for his driver's license and proof of insurance, he instead showed his Doraville police badge.
A sergeant said he smelled an odor of alcohol coming from Lindsey, who admitted he'd been drinking earlier at Shooter Alley, a Doraville strip club.
The report also said Lindsey lost his balance during a field sobriety test, putting his foot down four times while he was supposed to be standing on one leg.
The test only lasted seven seconds because Lindsey stopped counting and placed his hands behind his back, the report said.
The report said Lindsey had a blood alcohol content of 0.151, and that was at 9:18 a.m., an hour and a half after the crash.
