DeKalb Schools Announces Actions in CRCT Probe
DECATUR, Ga. - DeKalb County school officials say they are asking the state to investigate nearly 30 current and former employees as part of a test cheating probe.
System officials said Thursday that 24 employees -- including teachers, principals and assistant principals -- have been reassigned to duties outside their schools pending outcome of the state's investigation. The 97,000 student district is part of a statewide probe into possible cheating on 2009 standardized tests at 20 percent of Georgia's elementary and middle schools.
A state audit released last year showed unusual numbers of erasures on tests at 370 schools across Georgia.
DeKalb officials notified parents of students affected and those students will get extra help.
School employees could lose their teaching licenses if it is found they cheated on the tests.
