Dekalb man Jermarcus Jordan sentenced in shooting of off-duty Atlanta police officer
DeKalb County prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to prison time in the shooting of an off-duty Atlanta police officer.
District Attoey's spokesman Erik Burton said in an emailed statement Wednesday that Jermarcus Jordan has been given a 25-year sentence and is ordered to serve 15 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Jordan shot an off-duty officer in November 2013 while the officer was in uniform and working a part-time job. District Attoey Robert James says the officer suffered injuries to his head and one of his legs.
Jordan was positively identified by witnesses and was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
