DeKalb Deputy Shot While Serving Warrant
ATLANTA -- A DeKalb County sheriff's deputy was shot while serving an arrest warrant on Sunday evening.
Cpl. Gary Freeman was shot in the forearm at the Keys Crossing Condominiums in the 1400 block of Keys Crossing Drive in Atlanta.
Investigators said Joshua Waller, 36, presented a handgun and fired one round striking Freeman. Another deputy retued fire, striking Waller in the shoulder.

Eaestine Mathis said she heard the shots.
”It sounded like three or four, she said.
Freeman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Waller barricaded himself inside the townhome, officials said.
Hostage negotiators were able to end the standoff with a simple request.
”He wanted a cigarette. They gave him a cigarette. They talked him out once he came out to retrieve the cigarette. They took him down without incident, said Lt. Stacy Clark.
Deputies said the misdemeanor arrest warrant was over a dispute Waller had with a neighbor.
