Defense Takes Turn in Heidt Murder Trial

SPRINGFIELD, Ga. - The defense is getting its tu to present evidence in the murder trial of a Georgia man charged with killing his father and brother in a family feud over the defendant's affair with his brother's wife.

Prosecutors rested their case Tuesday in the trial of 42-year-old Craig Heidt of Springfield, who faces life in prison if convicted by an Effingham County jury that's heard testimony for the past week.

The trial was to resume Wednesday with witnesses for the defense. Heidt's attoey, Dow Bonds, insists his client is innocent of the August 2008 shotgun slayings of his father, real estate developer Philip Heidt, and brother, Carey Heidt.
