Conyers authorities say they have arrested and charged a woman who works at a Covington daycare after she allegedly left a child in a van.

Police were alerted by a report from the Department of Children and Family Services that a 5-year-old child had been left unattended in a van at Eyes on Your Child Daycare on Sept. 9.

According to police, the child was picked up from school and apparently fell asleep in the van between school and the daycare facility.

Police said Catherine Brown, 51, who was employed by the daycare to drive their van, failed to check the van upon arriving at daycare.

The child was left unattended in the closed van with the engine off between 20 and 40 minutes until the victim's mother came to pick him up.

Brown tued herself in to the Rockdale County Sheriff's office for booking on the charges on Sept. 18.

She was charged with cruelty to children in the second degree, reckless conduct and deprivation of a minor.
