Police in Cobb County arrested two people after a deadly shooting outside a restaurant in Smya.

On Wednesday, the Smya Police Department announced that Vincent Diandrez Brooks and Damien Akeen Scott, both 22, were taken into custody by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office. Both are being charged with homicide-murder and aggravated assault, according to authorities.

Smya Police say the victim and one of the suspects were strangers meeting in the parking lot of Carrabba's on Cumberland Blvd around 1:30 p.m. to conduct an online sale transaction when the sale tued deadly.

”It appears he had come here to do a Craisglist-style transaction when the transaction went bad, said Smya Police Officer Louis Defense.

When police arrived at the scene they found a white SUV and the driver was on the ground; he had been shot and killed.

Police have identified the victim as Mezaio Pickett, 26, of Cobb County.

Police urge anyone who is involved with online sales to meet at their local police department. Most stations now have designated areas for the transactions.
