Crash Knocks Out Power To Traffic Signals in Marietta
Authorities say a driver crashed into a power substation in Smyrna on Monday evening, causing a couple of transformers to explode.

Cobb County drivers should be aware of an accident in Marietta that knocked out power to several traffic lights is causing major traffic delays. The following intersections were among those affected

  • Windy Hill Eastbound from Atlanta Road (shut down)
  • Windy Hill Rd at Atlanta Road (only southbound traffic moving)
  • Windy Hill Rd at Village Pkwy (only westbound traffic getting by)
  • Village Pkwy northbound to Windy Hill Road westbound only

Georgia Power is estimating 10,000 customers in Marietta are without power. They expect to fully restore power by 10 pm

No injuries were reported in the crash.
