COLUMBUS, Ga. - A 32-year-old Columbus man has been convicted of murder in the death of his pregnant wife.

Zyderrious Platt was convicted Thursday by a Muscogee County Superior Court jury of the 2009 slaying of 26-year-old Jilani Platt. Authorities say they found the woman wrapped in a comforter in a retention pond after Platt directed them to the spot.

Judge Bobby Peters sentenced Platt to consecutive life in prison terms.

Jilani Platt was originally reported as a missing person in October 2009.

Police said Zyderrious Platt choked his wife, then shot her fatally after a quarrel over rent
