Charges have been dropped against an ex-high school principal in metro Atlanta who was accused of failing to report child abuse.

The Cobb County Solicitor General's Office has dropped charges against Trudie Donovan, who was accused of knowing that a former teacher at Kell High School in Marietta slapped a student's buttocks and another student in the face last May.

The Marietta Daily Joual reports (http://bit.ly/XzyxXS ) charges against Donovan were dropped March 27 when the state determined there was not enough evidence to move forward with prosecution.

Donovan resigned from the school in May after 34 years of service with Cobb County schools.
