Byron man Ratavius Canion charged with murder of girlfriend Destiny Clark
Byron police have charged a man with murder in the stabbing death of his girlfriend Destiny Clark, 20.
Police got an anonymous call Friday afteoon that there had been a killing at an apartment in the Byron Housing Authority. They found Clark dead on the living room floor in a large pool of blood.
According to investigators, Ratavius Canion said they had gotten into a fight but he did not admit to killing her. He was taken into custody but wasn’t charged until hours later.
”We are still building the case but last night we felt like we had enough to charge him, said Police Chief Wesley Cannon.

He said it appears the cause of death was a single stab wound to the neck, pending confirmation by the medical examiner Monday. Cannon said they weren’t initially sure that was the cause of the death because of the large amount of blood, but they found no other wounds.
It also appeared there was a significant amount of time lapsed between when she was stabbed and when police got there.
Cannon said he didn’t want to estimate the time until the medical examiner’s report is done.
”It appears that she bled to death, he said.
Canion is being held in the Peach County jail.
