Booster club treasurer Janis Riley Allen accused of $10K theft

A former high school booster club treasurer has been accused of stealing nearly $10,000 from the Osboe High School concession stand sales
 
Police arrested 42 year old Janis Riley Allen on felony theft by taking charge for allegedly failing to deposit $9,728 from Osboe High School concession stand sales, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC.

The thefts occurred from Aug. 2010 through May while Allen, of a Marietta address, was treasurer of the Cardinal Tip Off Club, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.

Allen allegedly created an accounting ledger that indicated the cash taken in by the booster club was $22,258, the warrant states. But bank records, nightly cash accounting sheets and other receipts show the total money collected was $32,102.

Allen tued herself into police Nov. 9, hours after a warrant was issued for her arrest, and was booked into the Cobb County jail, according to booking records. She was released the following afteoon after posting $20,000 bond.
