Body believed to be Lil Jon's missing son Nathan Smith recovered from pond in Milton
MILTON, Ga. — A body believed to be that of Nathan Smith, the 27-year-old son of rapper Lil Jon, was recovered Friday from a pond near his home, authorities said.
Milton police and search teams located the body in the water after several days of searching following Smith’s disappearance earlier this week. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office must complete identification and determine the cause of death, police said.
Smith, who performed under the name DJ Young Slade, was last seen early Tuesday morning after leaving his home on foot without a cellphone, prompting a missing person alert and an expanding search that included divers and K-9 units. Officials said there was no immediate indication of foul play, but the investigation remains active.
In a statement, Lil Jon said he and Smith’s mother, Nicole Smith, were devastated by the news and heartbroken over the loss. He described his son as “kind, caring and passionate,” adding that family members had expressed their love during their final time together.
