HENRY COUNTY, Ga. - Locust Grove police arrested an Atlanta Police Department officer on charges of a home invasion on November 28.

According to the police report, officer Phillip Barresi kicked down the front door of the home where his former fiancee was staying with her sister and her parents.

Once inside, the victim and her family told police that Barresi put his hand on his service weapon. The family called 911 and Barresi allegedly took off.

A report shows Barresi told detectives he "accidently kicked the door open." He told them he "regretted his actions" but was "extremely upset" because his ex had broken into his home first.

When asked if he had filed a police report, he said he "was trying to keep the police out of the situation."

Atlanta Police said they take the allegations very seriously and said that Barresi had been relieved of duty and is on paid administrate leave until further notice.

Barresi has been an officer since January 2015 and has no previous disciplinary complaints, APD said.
