A mother is in custody after police say she tried to run from state troopers while her 13-year-old son was in the car.

Police say Raven Taylor, 36, drove her car through traffic and hit other cars as she tried to get away Monday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Taylor crashed into a tow truck, seriously damaged a Honda Civic and hit several other cars before coming to a stop.

It all started with an accident on the connector. Police said they pulled Taylor over and later found out she didn’t have a license or insurance.

”She jumped in her car, she drove across five lanes of interstate, exited on a secondary street, a trooper followed, a chase ensued. She came to this intersection, she failed to stop at the traffic light, hit multiple cars and was taken into custody," Cpl. Dwayne Fabian said.

Fabian said the chase and crash happened with Taylor’s son in the car.

”I don’t know why she would run from a trooper with her 13-year-old son in the car with her, but it happens," Fabian said.

Taylor’s son, along with the other drivers involved in the wreck, are OK. Taylor is now in the Fulton County Jail. Her first court appearance is set Tuesday.
