Atlanta man Jeronta Brown dead, woman injured in shooting
Police say Briana Brooks, 21, and Jeronta Brown, 24, were tied up and left on the side of Ridge Avenue.

Police say kidnapping ended with two people shot and one of them killed in northwest Atlanta.

Police say no one heard gunfire, but that a man and woman were each shot in the head sometime before 6 a.m. Saturday.

DeKalb police said that at about 12:30 a.m., the couple retued to their home and did not even make it inside before being attacked.

According to police, a group of men grabbed them and handcuffed them and put them in a van before speeding off.

They do not have a description of the men or know exactly how many were involved in the kidnapping.

Jeronta Brown, 24, was killed, but the woman, identified as Briana Brooks, 21, was rushed to the hospital. She is in serious condition, police said. Police  believe the victims are a couple.

They were found on Ridge Avenue by a driver and his friend Saturday moing.

Orenthious Martin said he and a friend drove up Ridge Avenue around 4:30 a.m. and saw the victims.

"He put the bright lights on and that's when I see the young man laying here face down, hands behind his back and was like there are two bodies, Martin said.

Martin thinks the bodies could not have been there long, since the woman was still breathing, and gagging for air.

"I knew she was alive," Martin said.

He said their hands were behind their backs.

"They were handcuffed, both of them," he said. "Not tied. There were handcuffs on them."

Police said Saturday moing they believed the couple was shot in the location where they were found.

"It’s really too early in our investigation to speculate what happened, but we do know they were shot in this location," Paul Guerrucci with the Atlanta Police Department said.
