A 22-year-old Atlanta man is facing multiple criminal charges after police say he was shot during an incident in northwest Atlanta where he allegedly tried to gain entry into an apartment while posing as a law enforcement officer.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 10:30 p.m. Friday to the 1200 block of James Jackson Parkway NW on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found Jaron Jordan suffering from a gunshot wound. Jordan was alert and breathing, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment before charges were filed.

Police say the apartment resident told officers Jordan repeatedly attempted to kick down the door while claiming to be a police officer. In response, the resident fired at him through the closed door, striking Jordan.

Jordan has been charged with impersonating a police officer, loitering and prowling, and criminal trespass with property damage, authorities said. It remains unclear whether Jordan knew the resident prior to the incident.
