A spokesperson for the Atlanta Hawks said the team will work with a metro Atlanta couple who found out the online tickets they purchased were not valid.

Allison and Brandon Murphy bought $22 seats for an upcoming basketball game, but said they were told by StubHub the tickets were less than market value and were no good.

The couple said comparable tickets will cost them up to $350.

"We don't control that," said Hawks CEO Steve Koonin. "We have Ticketmaster Plus, which is through the team, and I urge people to use the Hawks official venues because then I can check it out. I can't check out what an individual does."

Koonin spoke during a ceremony at the State Capitol to honor the Hawks for having the longest winning streak in team history.

"We want our fans to be able to get in," Koonin said. "That's why we have $15 tickets for every game . We said at the beginning of the season that we want to make the Hawks accessible to Atlanta."

StubHub told CBS46 News that the seller failed to produce the tickets for the Murphys. The company said it has strict guidelines for sellers and buyers that are spelled out on line.

"The seller would have been fined accordingly," the company said in an email. "It can result in their listings and sales being automatically canceled, as well as temporary or permanent suspension of account activities."

The Better Business Bureau said it had no complaints about StubHub and that the company has an A+ rating with the agency.

"This is not a BBB accredited business," said Mike Boynton, the BBB's vice president of marketing and sales. "However, they do have a good standing with us as far as being responsive. If there's any kind of complaints, the records show that they handle and resolve any complaints reported."

StubHub has given the Murphy's a refund and a $150 credit.

The BBB recommends people use a credit card for ticket purchases, check reviews of buyers and sellers and always read the fine print.
