Atlanta begins new year with Sunday alcohol sales

Atlanta liquor stores are ringing in the new year by making their first Sunday sales.

A new law goes into effect on Jan. 1 allowing the sale of alcohol on Sundays.

Stores can begin sales of alcohol each Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

The new law had already taken affect in other Georgia cities. Smya also began Sunday alcohol sales on Jan. 1.

Employees at Green’s Beverage on Ponce de Leon said they expect a lot of customers.
