Athens man Jeffery Johnson arrested for rape
Athens-Clarke police say they have arrested the man responsible for the rape of a woman at a Days Inn in downtown Athens last month.
Jeffery Lamar Johnson is being charged with aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and battery.
Officers said a canvass of the downtown area provided the tips that led to his arrest.
Investigators said more charges are likely.
