Armed Robbers Assault Administrator At High School
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Students, teachers and campus police said they will be more vigilant after a couple of gunmen slipped inside a high school. School officials said two teens robbed a student and assaulted an administrator at Central Gwinnett High School.
Police said they continue to look for 17-year-old Zachary Brunner, who officers said was one of two teenagers who pulled off the robbery.
Officials arrested Timothy Bertrand. Police said Bertrand and Brunner entered the high school and robbed a student on March 17.
Some parents said they were never told about the incident.
”Are you serious? I didn’t even know about that, said parent Maria Acosta.
A parent called the school after the teens allegedly took $5 from a student.
”(The parent) said that the student had his money taken away at school and had seen what he believed was a weapon carried by an individual, said Jorge Quintana of Gwinnett County Schools.
Investigators said Bertrand and Brunner also assaulted a school administrator when the official noticed something suspicious about them.
”(The administrator) had injuries to his hand, a cut to his hand, and then also the impact from when he was pushed against the wall, said Quintana.
The teens ran from campus after the altercation, police said.
Some parents said they were conceed the school didn’t alert them to the situation.
”It didn’t cause a disruption to the whole student body. Maybe the school didn’t feel it was necessary to send a message communication home, said Quintana.
Police continue to look for Brunner. Police said they plan to charge him with armed robbery.
